Job Title: Psychiatry Registrar - PECC (Locum)

Location: Coastal NSW

Dates: Monday 20 October - Friday 16 November 2026

Rate: $180 per hour

Role Overview: We are seeking a locum Psychiatry Registrar to join the Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) in coastal NSW. This is a short-term placement ideal for a registrar looking to gain experience in acute psychiatric care within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess patients presenting with acute mental health issues

• Develop and implement management plans, including discharge with follow-up or hospital admission

• Manage four short-stay PECC beds

• Liaise with the PECC Clinical Director, nursing staff, and on-call consultants

• Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies within the Mental Health Centre after hours, including the 8-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

• Collaborate with emergency services, community mental health teams, and the adjacent Calvary Mater Hospital ED

Roster Details: The PECC operates on a forward rotating roster shared between three registrars. Shifts include:

• PECC Day: 08:00-16:30

• PECC Swing 1: 10:00-18:30

• PECC Swing 2: 12:30-21:00

• PECC Evening: 14:30-23:00

Support:

• Consultant psychiatrist available 24/7 via phone and in person during business hours

• Medical backup available
