Global Medics is working with a hospital in Hunter New-England to recruit a Staff Specialist Psychiatrist - General Adult Acute.
The role is based in Taree, the heart of the stunning Manning Valley on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. Key Responsibilities for the role:
- Undertake a planned, disciplined approach to consistently delivering the best possible experience for patients.
- Providing high quality, evidence based, patient focussed management and care to admitted and no admitted patients, families and carers through the participation and/or attendance at regular ward rounds, clinical handover clinics and whilst on call including consultation for patients.
- Proactively build and maintain collaborative partnerships to ensure team success, facilitate change, build consensus and respond to concerns raised by the team, management and patients.
- Educate and supervise undergraduate and post graduate multidisciplinary students and team members in accordance with the standards of the relevant training organisation (college/HETI/Universities/other).
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Coming from the UK - Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), awarded under any RCPsych curriculum from August 2007 to date following satisfactory completion of a General Medical Council or Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board approved specialty training program in psychiatry in the United Kingdom.
- Other Countries - Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
- Demonstrated clinical skills and experience working with mental health problems in Adult Mental Health
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively as part of multi-disciplinary team

Psychiatry:
- United Kingdom: Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), awarded under any RCPsych curriculum from August 2007 to date following satisfactory completion of a General Medical Council or Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board approved specialty training program in psychiatry in the United Kingdom.
Psychiatrists educated from other countries will still need to go through The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
What is the process to apply?
- Apply to the AMC for primary source verification (PSV) of your primary and specialist medical qualifications. The AMC use the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) verification services.
- Apply to the ECFMG to establish an EPIC/MyIntealth account for verification of your qualifications.
- Check that your qualification is on the Board's Expedited Specialist pathway: accepted qualifications list.
- Apply to the Medical Board for specialist registration.
- Submit a supervised practice plan including nominating a supervisor and details of an appropriate specialist position, that the Board will need to approve. This can be done when you apply for registration or after registration has been granted.
