Global Medics is partnering with a hospital in Sydney to recruit a Staff Specialist Psychiatrist - Community CYMHS. The role is based 40 minutes north of Sydney, with great connections to the CBD and stunning Sydney beaches including Bondi and Manly beach.
The key responsibilities for the role:
- Provide direct clinical service to children and young people requiring a mental health response, depending on specific models of care with each specialist team (community child & adolescent, child and adolescent assertive outreach and adolescent & youth early psychosis).
- Attend relevant clinical management meetings, case reviews and other meetings as relevant, in relation to the mental health needs of children and young people
- Provide clinical consultation to CYMHS staff
- Recognise the rights of people with mental disorders and/or mental health problems
- Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of patient information and patient records
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Coming from the UK - Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), awarded under any RCPsych curriculum from August 2007 to date following satisfactory completion of a General Medical Council or Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board approved specialty training program in psychiatry in the United Kingdom.
- Other Countries - Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
- Demonstrated clinical skills and experience working with mental health problems in Adult Mental Health
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively as part of multi-disciplinary team

Psychiatry:
- United Kingdom: Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), awarded under any RCPsych curriculum from August 2007 to date following satisfactory completion of a General Medical Council or Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board approved specialty training program in psychiatry in the United Kingdom.
Psychiatrists educated from other countries will still need to go through The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
What is the process to apply?
- Apply to the AMC for primary source verification (PSV) of your primary and specialist medical qualifications. The AMC use the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) verification services.
- Apply to the ECFMG to establish an EPIC/MyIntealth account for verification of your qualifications.
- Check that your qualification is on the Board's Expedited Specialist pathway: accepted qualifications list.
- Apply to the Medical Board for specialist registration.
- Submit a supervised practice plan including nominating a supervisor and details of an appropriate specialist position, that the Board will need to approve. This can be done when you apply for registration or after registration has been granted.
