Global Medics is looking for an experienced Psychiatrist to fill a part time vacancy within integrated Adult care (acute inpatient/community Mental Health) based in a private hospital in Sydney CBD. The role is 0.5 FTE.
You will provide integrated clinical services to adults presenting with a broad range of mental illnesses and disorders in 27 bed acute inpatient unit and community case management teams. Your role will be to work as a clinical leader of a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, trauma-informed, recovery-orientated care across both community and inpatient settings.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Provide accountable, high quality specialist services to allocated patients in the acute inpatient unit and community mental health services within a multidisciplinary recovery-oriented, person-centred, family/carer-inclusive and trauma-informed framework. This includes psychiatric assessment, treatment planning and clinical oversight, follow-up and ongoing evaluation including up to date documentation and transfer of care summaries.
- Manage administrative requirements for patients managed under the Mental Health Act and/or Guardianship Act, and educate and support the MDT regarding the use of such legislation.
- Lead and/or participate in regular clinical handover meetings, case review meetings and other multidisciplinary team meetings.

Essential Selection Criteria:
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
- General specialist registration with AHPRA
- Demonstrated clinical skills and experience working with mental health problems in Adult Mental Health
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively as part of multi-disciplinary team
Psychiatry:
- United Kingdom: Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), awarded under any RCPsych curriculum from August 2007 to date following satisfactory completion of a General Medical Council or Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board approved specialty training program in psychiatry in the United Kingdom.
Psychiatrists educated from other countries will still need to go through The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
What is the process to apply?
- Apply to the AMC for primary source verification (PSV) of your primary and specialist medical qualifications. The AMC use the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) verification services.
- Apply to the ECFMG to establish an EPIC/MyIntealth account for verification of your qualifications.
- Check that your qualification is on the Board's Expedited Specialist pathway: accepted qualifications list.
- Apply to the Medical Board for specialist registration.
- Submit a supervised practice plan including nominating a supervisor and details of an appropriate specialist position, that the Board will need to approve. This can be done when you apply for registration or after registration has been granted.
