Global Medics is working with mlcoa, Australia’s largest provider of Independent Medical Opinion Reports and Advisory Services, to bring you a unique and rewarding opportunity.
With over 35 years of experience, mlcoa delivers high-quality, evidence-based reports to insurers, employers, government departments, Department of Veteran's Affairs and law firms.
mlcoa's Panel of Specialists work as individual Contractors providing their independent medical opinions. Their reports are formulated on evidence-based medicine to assist mlcoa clients in providing optimal health outcomes for injured people.
Why Become an Independent Medical Consultant?
Induction and support
mlcoa provides a comprehensive induction, training in report writing, peer support and guidance on accreditation requirements and will walk with you every step of the way.
Remuneration
Create a new income stream. You will receive guaranteed 30-day payment in arrears for all finalised reports.
Flexibility
As an Independent Consultant, you will customise your availability and appointments, according to your individual preferences.
Broad variety of work
This professionally stimulating work is challenging and varied - includes cases across multiple jurisdictions Australia wide:
workers compensation claims, fitness for work duties, income protection, Veterans, total & permanent disability and permanent impairment cases.
Professional Development
You'll learn from mlcoa's comprehensive IME Manual which covers all aspects of writing an IME report and gain insights from senior lawyers on Expert Witness requirements. You'll also receive support in achieving your CPD points.
Non treating role
This role does not require you to provide treatment or manage the examinee as your patient but to provide your independent medical opinion and advice only. You will assist mlcoa's clients to gain a complete picture of the injury/illness, empowering them to make well-informed decisions.
Requirements
- Unrestricted specialist registration with AHPRA
- Full Australian work rights
- Fellowship with an Australian Medical College for at least 2 years
- Have excellent and comprehensive English language skills both verbal and written
- Be willing to learn a new skill set
Your role
- Conduct independent medical assessments
- Review and analyse medical evidence
- Deliver clear, evidence-based reports
- Respond to client queries with clinical insight
Note: No medical negligence reporting required.
