Locum General Physician

• Dates: Immediate start - 28^th August 2026
• Rate: $2000.00 per day
• Location: Timaru, New Zealand

We are seeking experienced General Physicians to support the medicine team in Timaru with short or long‑term locum placements. This position includes ward duties, with overnight and/or weekend on‑call and the possibility of clinic sessions depending on service needs.

Location:

Timaru is a coastal gem on the South Island, sitting comfortably between Christchurch and Dunedin. The centre is dotted with great cafes, local boutiques and has an easy-going atmosphere. The wider South Canterbury region is known for its rolling farmland, woolly sheep, and rugged rural character, but it also surprises with boutique stays, artisan food producers, and quiet country towns perfect for weekend exploring. Caroline Bay is a favourite local spot, and there are plenty of parks and walking tracks nearby. Inland lakes make summer adventures easy, and several ski fields are within reach once winter arrives - making it an ideal spot for anyone who enjoys balance and the outdoors

Essential:

• Vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) or eligibility to apply
• FRACP or equivalent and be able to register for specialist registration with the MCNZ
