Consultant in Geriatric Medicine - NSW

Global Medics are exclusively partnering with one of the largest Healthcare Providers in Australia for a Consultant/ Staff Specialist in Geriatric Medicine role based in northern New South Wales.

The position will contribute to inpatient consultative services, outpatient clinics, and supports development of community-based and multidisciplinary models of care in the local region

Duties include:

• Providing contemporary comprehensive Specialist Geriatrician services at the primary facility and other facilities where applicable for optimal patient outcomes delivering a healthy community through quality care.
• Providing clinical leadership, participate in quality improvement activities and provide training and education to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.

The hospital is a major regional referral hospital located in the heart of the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. As a Level 5 facility, it provides a comprehensive range of health services including Emergency care (24/7), General medicine and surgery, Geriatrics, Intensive and cardiac care, Obstetrics and gynaecology, Paediatrics, Renal dialysis, Mental health inpatient units, Medical imaging and Cardiac catheter lab, North Coast Cancer Institute and specialist outpatient clinics.

Requirements:

• Fellowship of the relevant Royal Australian Medical College or equivalent
• Specialist AHPRA registration or eligible to attain (Substantially Comparable)
• Proven recent clinical experience in Geriatric Medicine consistent with the required role delineation of the service.

• Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time
