Our client has fantastic opportunity at RAAF Base Williamtown which is Australia's premier fighter pilot training base. RAAF Base Williamtown is a Royal Australian Air Force military air base located 8 nautical miles north of the coastal city of Newcastle in the local government area of Port Stephens, in New South Wales. RAAF Base Williamtown is home to the command, operational and support elements of Air Combat Group's tactical fighter force components operating F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Hawk and PC-9 aircraft. In addition, the Base is home to Surveillance and Response Group's Air Surveillance and Battlefield Management command and support elements and the E-7A Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft. The Base also accommodates elements of the Air Warfare Centre and several Combat support Units. There are over 25 Force Element Group Headquarters, Wings, Squadrons, Units and Flights based at RAAF Base Williamtown with employment of over 4500 people directly, including direct contractors.
RAAF base Williamtown is located just 30 minutes drive from Newcastle. Newcastle is a harbour city with its plentiful beaches linked by the Bathers Way, a coastal walk stretching between Nobbys Beach and Merewether Beach. The walk provides access to Bogey Hole, a convict-built ocean bath from the colonial period. Also on the path is the 1880s Fort Scratchley, a historic site and a viewpoint for spotting migrating whales. Newcastle is surrounded by golden sand beaches, breathtaking coastline, and a beautiful working harbour. The cafes, restaurants and bars, unique architecture and rich history stretch from the city to the suburbs. Newcastle is located 2.5 hours drive from Sydney.
About the Roles
As a Civilian Medical Officer (GP) at RAAF Base Williamtown you play a vital part in providing quality clinical care to patients as an integral member of an experienced multidisciplinary health care team. Your day will involve delivery of medical services, that include however will vary from base to barracks, sick parade consultations, GP consultations, health screenings, fitness to fly assessments, aviation medicals and aircrew health management, preventative health care, diving, submarine and other occupational medical and health assessments to determine employability and deployability of personnel, pre and post deployment health assessments.
You will enjoy being an employee and not having to deal with Medicare! Most roles are Monday to Friday with no weekend unless you wish to participate in the on call/ recall roster in most location which has an attractive rate. Our client offers attractive Company benefits including relocation assistance for some locations, CPD leave and reservist leave. You will be trained at RAAF Edinburgh to perform Aviation Medical for Defence.
Clinical requirements for the Roles
- Unrestricted registration with AHPRA
- FRACGP or FACRRM (Early Fellows encouraged to apply)
- Demonstrated experience in General Practice
- CPR or BLS with the last 12 months
- Current Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Current QI and CPD statement from your relevant College
- Australian Citizenship is essential
