Position: Staff Specialist (Infectious Diseases)
Location: Coastal QLD

Salary: $219,000-241,000k + benefits

Position brief:

Provide direct, high-quality care to clients with infectious diseases (including HIV/AIDS, Hep B and C and Tuberculosis) in both acute and non-acute service settings.

The Infectious Diseases Physician will work within an inter-professional Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health service, Hospital in the Home (HiTH), Specialist Outpatient service and provide inpatient consultancy of these and other infectious diseases. The provision of clinical services for CQ Health is provided as one service, multiple sites.

To meet service needs the Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Infectious Disease) may be required to provide clinical services at any facility.

The Role:

· Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service and CQ Health values.

· Actively participate in the Performance Appraisal and Development (PAD) process and engage in continuous learning and workplace improvement and innovation.

· Understand your broad responsibility for safety and quality in health care, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.

· The provision of a healthy and safe environment within the health service is everyone's responsibility.

· Employees who are appointed to the CQHHS are accountable for information security, management, and appropriate use, in accordance with legislation, standards, policies and procedures.

· Understand your accountability to uphold the principles and practices of the Health Service's Health and Safety Management System in accordance with legislation and industry standards. As a supervisor actively promote good health and safety practices to staff of your work area.

The hospital:

This hospital has 70 beds and offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient specialities, including, EM, general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, O&G, HDU, palliative care, mental health and paediatrics. It is co-located with the only private hospital in the city. Their Medicine department is accredited for 6 months BPT training. They have 500 births each year and approximately 1600 surgical procedures. There general surgical and general medical ward consists of 29 beds. They also

have two operating theatres and a four bed HDU. This hospital is in the process of being redeveloped and is currently in the process of building a new Emergency Department.

Location Details:

This hospital is located on the coast of Central Queensland, approximately 500km north of Brisbane. The town has a population of approximately 35,000 and has previously been known as a mining town. In recent years this has changed and as it's harbour is part of the World Heritage Area making it a large tourist destination with cruise ships arriving frequently. They have a number of schools, including private and public and also offer two tertiary institutions. With its proximity to the Capricorn Coast and Great Barrier Reef, along with many beautiful islands, this town is ideal for people who love the outdoors and exploring the ocean.
