Our client has fantastic opportunity at Larrakeyah Barracks, incorporating HMAS Coonawarra, is the main base for the Australian Defence Force in the Northern Territory of Australia, and occupies the headland west of the suburb of Larrakeyah in the capital, Darwin.

Darwin is an important Navy port - a gateway to our northern neighbours and the centre from which the ADF conduct border integrity operations. Darwin plays host to major RAN and multi-national exercises and operations involving around 100 visiting Australian and foreign major warships each year. Currently, almost 600 Navy men and women are based in the Darwin area, most of whom work at Coonawarra or Larrakeyah Barracks, where they are focussed on supporting Fleet operations. Darwin has a relaxed, small-town feel, Darwin is the tropical capital of the Northern Territory that's perched on a harbour five times the size of Sydney's. Darwin is famous for its multicultural food, outdoor markets, waterside attractions and a warm holiday vibe year-round. It is an extremely diverse city, with residents coming from all around the world to live in Darwin, this is reflected in the cuisine and culture of Darwin.

About the Roles

As a Civilian Medical Officer (GP) at Larrakeyah Barracks you play a vital part in providing quality clinical care to patients as an integral member of an experienced multidisciplinary health care team. Your day will involve delivery of medical services, that include however will vary from base to barracks, sick parade consultations, GP consultations, health screenings, fitness to fly assessments, aviation medicals and aircrew health management, preventative health care, diving, submarine and other occupational medical and health assessments to determine employability and deployability of personnel, pre and post deployment health assessments.

You will enjoy being an employee and not having to deal with Medicare! Most roles are Monday to Friday with no weekend unless you wish to participate in the on call/ recall roster in most location which has an attractive rate. Clinical requirements for the Roles

  • Unrestricted registration with AHPRA
  • FRACGP or FACRRM (Early Fellows encouraged to apply)
  • Demonstrated experience in General Practice
  • CPR or BLS with the last 12 months
  • Current Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Current QI and CPD statement from your relevant College
  • Australian Citizenship is essential
