- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR eligible to be so within six months
- Approved clinician status OR be able to achieve within 3 months of appointment (the Trust will appoint a section12(2) to provide this role in the sector during the transition
Full time Consultant Psychiatrist for Inpatient Service / Crisis Intervention Team for Older People's Mental Health - NHS
9-10 bedded acute admission unit for females predominantly over the age of 65, experiencing an acute change in their functional mental health needs. There is a Speciality Doctor on the ward. You will be working as part of the multi-disciplinary team providing clinical leadership, assessments and reviews within the Services. This Older people's services utilise an MDT approach to peoples care with a focus on people and family's involvement.
Based in Cottingham, you will be working in only 1 of 3 purpose built units.
The services are supported by a dedicated service manager and a Modern Matron who provide operational and clinical support and oversight to both inpatient and CITOP teams, working alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist to support safe and effective care.

The post holder will join an established team of Specialist Consultant Psychiatrists in Old Age alongside a wider established network of Consultants covering all sub-specialities. There is weekly teaching and regular peer-group events to support professional and personal development.

" 1 WTE Pharmacy technician
Other requirements for the role:
" To have or to obtain formal educational supervisor status (recognized by the Yorkshire deanery) and will be responsible for formal clinical/educational supervision of the trainee if allocated
" The Trust Health Informatics Service provides access to training and direct support in relation to information technology. A full range of infra-structure services are also available within the trust to support the post holder and the service.
" To take part in Consultant on call rota for Older People and Learning Disability Service. This will be pro-rata. On some nights there is a ST4-6 second on-call until midnight. First on-call is provided by one of three junior doctors' rotas. The ID Service has a Community Nurse on-call system out of hours in addition to the IST who work 8AM to 8PM and a comprehensive Crisis Intervention and Treatment for Older Persons Service provides a triage service for referrals to the older adult service. This is a joint rota with a 1 in 7 frequency (assessed as category A intensity 5%). It is shared between LD and old age consultants with a ratio of 2:5 whole time equivalent consultants. Provision is made by the trust to ensure training is provided to allow consultants working on the rota to maintain competencies necessary.
Training Duties include:
" Participation in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching.
" Participation in the training of other disciplines.
" Providing educational supervision of trainees and other disciplines.
" Taking part in continuing medical education within statutory limits.
