About the role:

The Bay of Plenty region has experienced rapid population growth over the past five years and the health service is investing in services to meet the current and future health needs of the population. One of the priority focuses for this is developing the Acute Medical workforce to deliver specialist care. This is an opportunity to join a team of experienced acute medicine physicians delivering a high standard of care for a range of patient case types and complex presentations. You will work collaboratively with the team to share skills, experience and workloads, and you will contribute to the learning culture across undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff, with the support of the BOP clinical school and the University of Auckland.

The main centre for the eastern Bay of Plenty, Whakatane is one of the sunniest towns in New Zealand. Known for the suburb coastline, sandy beaches, fishing hot spots and abundant walking trails, the locals love it there. Whakatane has a charming town centre, nestled between a scenic riverside walkway and spectacular, bush-clad cliffs. The busy shopping precinct, numerous boutiques and specialty stores follow an attractive, tree-lined main street studded with cafes and restaurants. Nearby Ohope has a fabulous gallery and boutique shops, along with plenty of places to stop for a bite to eat.
