Consultant Psychiatrist - Forensic

We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists for permanent full-time or part-time work within the Canterbury Forensic Mental Health services.

This multidisciplinary team provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in a hospital and outpatient setting, the wider community, the Court, and Corrections. The service is seeking a clinician with strong clinical competencies, with excellent communication and decision-making skills. Previous forensic experience is valued but not essential, it is a great learning opportunity for those interested in a career in Forensic Psychiatry.

Essential requirements:

• You must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in a vocational and/ or locum tenens Psychiatry scope of practice, with no restrictions to your APC.
• Ideally you will have obtained FRANZCP or near completion.
• Must be legally able to work in New Zealand
